WHEN you’ve been caught in awful WEATHER wearing your BEST shoes, wipe them down the MOMENT you get home. With a rag or toothbrush, REMOVE the dirt and debris. Then STUFF them FULL of crumpled newspaper so they keep their SHAPE. Give them a nice SHINE when they’re all DRY so you’ll be ready to step out when you’re INVITED to someplace nice. TOSS those soaked SOCKS in their own small laundry BAG. When the bag is full, in the WASHER goes the WHOLE bag (no laundry bag? No matter – use a PILLOW CASE and knot it closed, which is kinda hard to do. A giant safety PIN works great!). HANG those CLEAN wet socks over the side of the TUB, shower or chair – dryer HEAT can wear down a GOOD pair of socks, same as long toe-nails, so keep them CLIPPED. When your socks are dry, look at your watch, see how long it takes you to sort, FOLD and put them AWAY. It’ll take less time to fold and put them away than it will to hunt down a pair, that I can tell you! Now, heave a sigh of RELIEF because you’ll never waste any TIME searching for a single soldiers mate and your SHINED up SOLES will always be at the READY
